Goodbye to one Quilt and Hello to Another

Standard

The wedding quilt was picked up first thing this morning.

It was too big to get a great picture of it but here it is spread out for a good de-theading.  It was headed to a bridal shower this evening and I hope the bride loves it as much as her grandmother and I.

Right after this quilt went on it’s way a new one arrived in the mail!

This is from my Doll Quilt Swap partner for April.  I love it!  The colors are beautiful and I love batiks.  I also sent hers out this afternoon.

Here is the quilt I made for my partner.  She told me that she likes 1800s so I raided my 1800s stash and designed this after a quilt I had made a few years ago.  I like how it turned out and I hope she does too.

A Few Finishes for a Very Long Month

Standard

I have been finishing things here and there I just haven’t been getting to blogging them.

Up first though this is the generous prize I won from Pippa’s Patch last month.  I love the quilt journal I can’t wait to start planning in it.  I’m trying to think of something special to use the fabric with.

Here is my Stash Bee block and siggy block for April.  I finished these a while ago but I still need to get them sent.

Here’s a sneaky peek at my Doll Quilters Monthly swap quilt.  My partner likes 1800’s so I dipped into my stash for this quilt.  Hope she loves it.

I also finished the quilting on the wedding star quilt yesterday and got the binding sewn on today.  Now it’s sitting on my couch to be hand sewn.

Swap Quilt Received!

Standard

I got my Name Game swap quilt today!  It came from Deb of Frog Cottage Designs.  I love it!  She did a great job of matching my blog colors.

She did hand and machine quilting on it and used English paper piecing for the stars.

It looks great on the wall behind my sewing machine!  I’m so excited about it!

I got started piecing the wedding quilt I’m making.  It’s going to be fun.  I don’t usually work with bright colors so it’s almost like a quilting holiday.  I can’t wait to see it come together.

First things first I visited Random.org this morning to generate a random # for the Leap Day Giveaway.  The winning # is…….(drum roll please)

Congratulations Joyce!  I will be sending you an email for shipping info.  Thank you so much for everyone who participated in this giveaway.

Now I had promised that I would share my finished Name Game Swap quilt when my partner had received it.  It arrived safely at it’s new home a couple of days ago so I can reveal the finished quilt now.

Here’s a look at the finished quilt the back and a couple close up’s at some of the fun embroidery I got to do.  I had so much fun making this quilt and I absolutely LOVE how it turned out.

Swapping Joy!

Standard

I love swapping.  I’ve only participated in two quilt swaps so far but I have loved being involved in them.  I recently joined another couple of swap groups and I wanted to share them as both groups have openings for more members.

The first that I joined is the Stash Bee Hive 3.  The object in this group is to use your stash.  When it’s your month you put up at tutorial on which type of block you want made and everyone makes their blocks and send them to you.  They do the same on their month and you send them your blocks.  Go check it out.  I’m super excited for when it begins.

 Doll Quilters

The second group I’ve joined is the Doll Quilt Swap.  Every month you get a new partner and there is an optional theme for your doll quilt.  I’m excited for this because it is an ongoing swap but if you need to quilt or take a month off then you can.  This one starts in April and the first optional theme is three colors.  I’ve already started having ideas and drawing out quilts for this.
