I took a little break from some of my bigger projects last night and this morning. I felt like crocheting a fast fun project. I have been wanting to try out this pattern for mary jane baby booties for a long time. I thought they turned out so cute! It was a very fun little break.
I got back to my sewing today and was able to pull all of my scrap and leftover pieces from my Twister quilt into a quilt back. I don’t usually like to keep scraps but I loved this fabric so much that I just couldn’t stand to throw it away. I’m really very happy with how everything came together and I love the look of it.
I hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving yesterday. We were very quiet here just my husband and I and my parents. I got to spend the day in the kitchen making all kinds of good things, which is why this is my favorite holiday. I love cooking!!! I volunteered to drive my Mom to work today because she didn’t have a car. This was a bad idea since she works in a quilt store and they were having sales today. Luckily I sew quilts for the store so I had some credit to spend.
I got some more 1800’s to add to my collection. These were 75% off so how could I resist. Now I really need to get caught up on the medallion quilt I’m using these for. I keep collecting the fabric but never get any work done with them.
I also got these fun fat quarters. They’re from the Tula Pink Parisville collection. They weren’t on sale but I’m slowly collecting them for another quilt I’m planning.
I also got a little bit of sewing done today. These are scraps from my Twister quilt. I don’t usually like to keep scraps but I wanted to figure out something for the back of my Twister quilt with these. The little squares are finishing at 1 1/2″ and I knew I wanted to set them on point. This is as far as I got today. I think I have a plan for what to do know but we’ll see tomorrow when I get back into the sewing room. I tend to let my quilts talk to me and sometimes they want to go a completely different direction then I plan to.
I was just blog surfing and found this and amazing giveaway here: http://craftmylifeaway.blogspot.com/2011/11/giveaway.html
You should check it out because she has a bunch of great things in it!
I got a package in the mail today that I have been anxiously awaiting. It was my quilt from my swap partner. I love it!!! I didn’t want to give any preferences because I love to see what other people come up with. I wasn’t disappointed. These are not fabrics or a pattern that I would probably buy myself but I love them. I’m thinking about where I’m going to put it. I thought about our coffee table….
She also made me a mug rug with some extra tumbler blocks. How sweet was that? It’s already sitting on our kitchen table and I got some new hot chocolate and cider today so I’ll be able to use it. I’ve had so much fun being a part of this swap.
I also finished the Kaffe stripe quilt yesterday and took it back to suppose today. I’m sorry the picture is a little blurry but it really is a gorgeous quilt in person. I’ll try to get another picture of it after they get it quilted.
I was blog surfing this afternoon and I found this Free Motion Quilting Challenge. Since I’ve really been trying to work on my quilting I was pretty excited to sign up. I’m not entirely sure that I wanted to add something else to my rapidly growing project list but it sounds like fun. Check it out and see if it’s something you would like to join.
This morning before he left for work I made my husband draw a winner for our embroidery giveaway. The winner is Boilermom27! Congratulations! Thank you to all of you who signed up for my first giveaway. This has been so exciting for me and I can’t wait to do another. I’ll be e-mailing the winner to get information for shipping the prize and hope to send it out first thing next week.
